Clarity and Direction: A Hiking Metaphor

Imagine going for a hike in a densely wooded forest with your family. You pick up a photocopied map of the hiking trails at the trailhead and set off. After about 45 minutes, your family tells you they are ready to head back. You check the map for guidance. As you study the map, it is apparent that the copy is very unclear. It is next to impossible to make out half the trails — let alone the one you are on. Your kids begin to ask you, “How do we get back?” How are you feeling in this situation? If you answered confused, lost, or concerned, that would certainly make sense! This map is a metaphor for your vision, values, and family blueprint. When these are clearly defined, you can provide better direction and guidance for your children. This clarity provides safety, security, and growing trust in your relationship with them. 🗺️ As a result, your kids are more likely to follow your lead and direction.
